Someone recently posted: “Even if you don’t have faith, good things will still happen for you.”
There is truth in that observation, but do you know why? This is not a “hoorah” for atheists; it’s a commentary on the nature of God. The Scripture bears this out. “If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.” (2 Timothy 2:13) To put it in the words of a Geico commercial: “If you are God, you love everybody. It’s what you do.” Loving-kindness is the nature of God. And He has a purpose in demonstrating His love. “Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” (Romans 2:4, NLT) God draws us with His goodness, even when we are unfaithful to Him. He also seeks to draw us when disaster strikes. Bottom line: We don’t put our faith in the events of life, good or bad. We trust in the God who loves us. He remains faithful. Next Steps... Whether good or bad comes my way, I will rest in the fact that nothing can separate me from God’s love.
