What To Expect
Jerusalem Marketplace is a unique interactive Palm Sunday experience, designed for families with children. It provides a glimpse of Jewish life in Bible times through a series of six teaching stations, Jewish songs and dances, a brief message by a Jesus actor, and a Palm Sunday procession, complete with live animals.
It is recommended that you arrive by 10:15 am in order to receive instructions as to procedure. As you enter the church, you will see a Roman soldier keeping guard. You will be greeted by people in Bible-times costumes. You will be guided to an open room where you and your family will join one of six groups to be ushered through the teaching stations. Children will stay with their parents throughout the activities. Nursery will be provided for children under 3 years of age. At 10:30, the shofar will sound. Groups will move to their assigned stations and will rotate to a new station every 10 minutes. Please stay with your group and keep children with you at all times. You will visit the carpenter’s shop, the synagogue school, the spice shop, the jewelry shop, the Passover room, and the dreidel game room. At 11:30, all groups will gather in the sanctuary for music and dance provided by the Cedar Road Children’s Choir. After a brief message, everyone will receive a palm branch and join the procession outdoors. There is no charge for this event, but you may want to put some money in the blind beggar’s bowl. This collection will go to the church’s benevolence fund. A tithe box is provided for Cedar Road Assembly of God members. We hope to see you and your family at Jerusalem Marketplace! |
