Luke 10:41-42
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Many of us have a to-do list whether it is needed or not. Here in the book of Luke, we see Martha trying to do everything in perfection. Her mind is completely on her to-do list, and is worried and troubled to get things done. She spends all her energy worrying about the things that are not necessary or needed at that time. We sometimes get into the mindset of to-do list and get worried for unnecessary reasons. While Mary chose to stay at the feet of Jesus and listen, which is very much needed at all times. Instead of worry, Mary is filled with love, peace and joy, which are needed. Jesus says, Mary has chosen the good part and will not be taken away from her. Let us choose wisely one thing that is needed, Jesus!

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Our God is extravagantly bountiful. And His gifts for us are beyond words and they are perfect. He gives good gifts to us, not because we deserve it but only because of His invariant love for you and me. Instead of taking it for granted, we need to be faithful and abide in His constant love. Being obedient to His word and seeking Him deeply and enjoying His presence, makes our lives worthy of living for Him. Just because He blesses us so much, don’t go after the blessings and seek all things. Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). Enjoy every good and perfect gift that comes from our loving Father in heaven. |
