As believers of Christ we have assurance that our lives can be revived and renewed in Him. The old me is gone now, in Christ I am clean and pure. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. Take His word to heart and reflect on it and all the condemnation of this world is erased and we have a clean plate to begin a new chapter in our lives. In this new year, let us all hold on to Christ our savior and never go back to the past and, cast away all the daunting thoughts and worries that burden us. Commit to Him whatever you do and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3). Lord, we commit and submit ourselves to Your will and plans because Your plans are for good and not for disaster, to give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Help us to be disciplined by your word and serve you with our whole heart. Help us to live a life that is pleasing to you. We put our trust and hope in You alone. Amen!

During this season of gift giving and receiving, we may not be perfectly happy or the joy may be temporary. Do not expect or place your happiness in the things of the world, instead delight or rejoice in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). Our true gift comes from Him, the birth of His Son which is our gift of salvation. Submit yourselves fully to the Lord and seek Him with all your heart.
When we seek His kingdom and His will, all our needs are met and our desires are completely fulfilled. John 4:14 says Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Let us all drink from His well and we will never thirst or desire for the earthly things. 1 Chronicles 16:10 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! The true Joy comes from seeking Him and drinking from His eternal well. As we worship the Lord with all our hearts, minds and souls, we commit our whole life to Him alone, then we experience the eternal Joy in His Holy presence. 1 John 4:8
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. As we go through this season of advent and are preparing our hearts for Christ to receive His bride which is the church itself, we need hold fast to Him and His word. His word is powerful; it works our hearts to change and turn a wounded heart to His true love. He first loved us, so receive His pure love now and share it with others. As He loved us, so we love one another, and that’s the new commandment He gave us in John 13:34. It’s easy to say I love you but not always easy to do so. What is love? 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 clearly states Love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, not proud, does not dishonor others, not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil, rejoices with truth, protects, trusts, hopes and always perseveres. God lives in us since He is love (1 John 4:8). Let us experience His beautiful love by living in His word. As Christmas is fast approaching we are planning and preparing for the big day, not just for family gatherings but also gift giving. It may not be a pleasant season for those who are alone or going through circumstances or battling a sickness.
We might be burdened with situations in families or fighting loneliness, we become tired of reasoning and our minds get clogged. Joyce Meyer says when the mind is busy it’s called ‘abnormal mind’ in her book, Battlefield of the Mind. What do we do when we are weary and burdened? Go and rest in Jesus. The Bible says, Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. When we are rested in God:
Seek Him with all your heart, mind and soul this busy season and rest in His presence more than worrying. Remember, He is the reason for this season. |
