Day After Pentecost

What was the Christian community like the day after Pentecost? What difference did that prayer meeting in the upper room make?
The people who experienced the coming of the Holy Spirit — the fire, the wind and the unknown languages — would never be the same. Instead of running and hiding from the authorities, they took their message to the streets, to the temple, and to surrounding areas. They were propelled by a spiritual “rocket fuel” that enabled them to preach, heal, and work miracles in the name of Jesus. They had moved out of the realm of fear and into the full operation of the Spirit’s power.
The day after Pentecost, the world would begin to hear the liberating truth of the Gospel. The revolution had begun. The Church was born.
We long for the same excitement to invade the church today. The needs are greater than ever. So is the opposition. We need that infusion of divine audacity that dares to insist that Jesus is the only Way. Only one Power can enable us to meet the challenge: The Holy Spirit living IN us!
We can find it the same way the disciples did. Praying and waiting on God until….
