Rent-A-Friend

Feeling lonely? Need someone to chat with? To share dinner and a movie?  To be a traveling companion? No problem. You can rent-a-friend.
This service provides people who can fill the friendship gap in a platonic way — for a price. $10 to $50 an hour. Friendship is as close as your checkbook.
And if you need money, you can sell your friendship. You set the price.
This idea leads to a glaring truth: There is a critical need in the world for REAL friends! Today we talk about “building relationships.” Whatever that means. But the Bible is specific about what true friendship entails: Loyalty.  Affection. Dependability. A bond that can exceed family ties.
Where do you find friends? Often they are a gift. People God puts in your life through work, school, church or family. Friendships can also be cultivated by seeking out people with similar interests and concerns. The best friendships are built around common goals and purposes.
Jesus touched a deep human need when He told His disciples, “I have called you friends.” He invites us into His heart, to share His goals for humanity, and to experience His loyalty and love. Then He sends us out to share that friendship with those who have no friends. 
These friendships are eternal, built around a common friendship with God’s Son. And there is no charge.
