As we enter the New Year at Cedar Road, we enter the Year of Power. This closes the circle on the three-year vision to be a people of prayer, love and power. The three are intertwined with the directive to love God, love people and impact the world.
Once again, we start the year with 21 days of fasting and prayer. This is the source of the love and power we need to impact the world. As we wait on God, our strength is renewed and our vision is sharpened. We gain direction and impetus to do the will of God. The secular world seeks power through money, position and prestige. These channels are used to wield influence in world affairs, and to implement social agendas. But as believers in God’s Word, we know there is a power that operates independent of human authority. That power has been given to Jesus, God’s Son. We have access to that power as we wait on God and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us with God’s love and His holy agenda. The number one purpose of that power is to enable us to be His witnesses — prepared and energized to boldly share God’s message of love. This is the power that transforms lives and reshapes history. That makes us a godly influence. That brings healing and hope. That can bring heaven to earth. Next Steps... This week, I will ask God for new ways to share His love in the New Year.
